What is the best iPhone to get to tryout?

I am thinking about trying out Apple and getting an iPhone. Now before I commit to a 2 year plan or buy a phone out for $500+ I am wanting to try one out. I'm looking on my local buy and sell and there is a 5c for $70 and a 5s for $150. Now my question is, have these phones gotten slower with iOS 10? I won't be playing many games, but I also don't want it to be stalling lots either.

Thank you

In my opinion go with anything 7 and up going forward. Processor speed and memory with definitely help going forward.

If your trying iPhone out then 5s seems like a good choice and two of my family members have the 5s and they haven't complained about speed issues. You may also wanna consider trying the SE or the iPhone 6 depending on your screen size preference.

iPhone SE. Great performance for a good price, just in a small package.
A used or refurbished iPhone 6 would also be great.
