What Is Taking Skype So Long?

What is taking Skype so long to add video into their iPhone app? Doesn't seem like it would take them all that long and yet it still is yet to be done! What do you guys think the hold up is?

i'm guessing apple would claim it competes with apple supplied functionality if they let skype mod it, so it's a big fat no no.

They said FaceTime would be open source for anyone to use. So I fail to see why they wouldn't allow it. This whole thing is frustrating. As soon as FaceTime comes to PC or Mac Skype will die hopefully.

But yet still nada...seriously the second FaceTime is made available for Mac and or PC Skype is deleted from my MacBook!

Skype even hated on Fring for beating them to the punch and they havent done a thing to fix it themselves...pathetic.

Yeah I think its Skype not enabling it, not Apple. I wish something would happen, Facetime to iChat or Skype video on mobile.

I think Skype has different plans in mind. Perhaps you remember that the Skype is only free for the rest of 2010? I'd assume that they don't want to waste their time updating an app they're going to discontinue or plan on charging for.

i also think skype is being pushed on android and verizon right now so their iphone support has taken a back seat for now.

Don't forget Yahoo has video on their chat. Facetime is open standard, and the SDK for the cameras is open for developers.
