What happens to albums when iPhoto goes away?

I have spent an inordinate amount of time putting photos in iPhoto Albums and files.
The same for labeling them so they will sort the way I like. Are the Albums and the
labels going away?

If so, I'm really outraged with Apple!

Backup what you've got now. I don't know what is coming so until it happens just back up. There is likely to be a process for keeping things as you have set them up.
