I have the nationwide talk and text. 450 minutes with unlimited text, $10.99 for insurance, $30 unlimited data plan. I bought a ringback tone which I think was $1.29 or something. This month's bill is $110. So roughly around there.

Wow... I saw this on the popular threads and clicked on it... now I'm horrified! This is like 1/2 a car payment territory for many... for a phone! This really goes to show that we need some actual competition to drive prices down. This should cost more like $30-40/mo IMO. Sheesh!

Yeh it's chunk of change but just like a car payment you get used to paying it each month. We already have the competition, ATT & Verizon, I believe were going to be paying these prices as long as we the consumer want the latest and greatest smartphones...

Doesn't mean we have to like paying it though..I wish it was half my car payment, I'd be happy..lol

competition will only drive prices down in a purely competitive market, which the US is not.

I totally agree there! Yea, I guess if people need this kind of thing, then at the moment, they have to pay this. I was just surprised, as I figured it would be more like $60/mo. (and even that is more than I'm willing to pay).

Currently, I'm in WiFi most of the time, so I just have a dumb-phone on pay as I go for emergency... so I'm only paying $10/mo. But, I think I might try to find a good MiFi type plan when I need Internet while away from WiFi.

Sorry for jumping in... I don't even have an iPhone (just iPod Touch, and hopefully iPad soon)... but the thread caught my eye.
