serious ignorance here..what are the documents and data on my iphone 5 my icloud is full because of it is it email and pics i really dont utilize my phone except for the basics such as emails, text messaging, phone calls and pics and storing of contact

You can go to settings>icloud> documents and data and see what apps are saving it to icloud and turn off documents and data for individual apps or turn off documents and data completely.
