So your going on what others have said and/or written. I just came from Verizon and there is definitely a difference. I saw this with my own eyes. I would say it's a kind of "BAM" in your face type of experience. I compared it with my MAX and the display model as well as a customer who was actually returning their Xr for a MAX. I would suggest going to a store and see for yourself.

I'll be doing just that next week in Memphis. And since I haven't Already purchased any of the new iPhones, I'll be completely objective.

I spent almost an hour in a store with the phones side by side. Myself, the guy working there, 5 ladies, and two men all agreed that there isn't a difference. You would have to go to extremes to see the difference and that just doesn't happen in the real world. I am as biased as it gets. I love everything apple and I am a sucker for higher specs. This is the first instance that I can't see or feel a difference.

That’s okay. Don’t let you tell otherwise.
It’s the same with audio. Some people don’t hear the difference between lossless and low bitrate music. It doesn’t mean it isn’t there, it’s just that you are less sensitive for it.
Same applies for the screen, in this instance.

Just enjoy your current phone

I love my max and will enjoy it. I still don't think that the difference in these technologies is enough just justify the cost and saying one is better than the other. Some people prefer different sound profiles and color profiles. I don't see how that plays into this.

Simply put, the iPhone XR is not the best. It doesn’t have the best screen, best camera, most RAM, best materials (steel vs aluminum), best LTE radio or best back glass. It’s a great phone but not the best phone. If you’re ok with that then the XR is for you. If your want best phone Apple makes in 2018 then the XS Max is for you.

No, we did not. The display on the XS Max is so much better than the iPhone XR. I went to Verizon today and put my XS Max's display next to the XR's display and the XS Max's display hits it out of the park. The XR's display looks like garbage compared to the OLED panel on the Max.

What does your brother Mr. Primus think?

I have yet to get my hands on any of the new iPhones yet but judging from what I am reading all over is that there is barely a difference in screen quality on the XS & XR Pretty sure my mind is made up to get the XR in a couple of months.

That's exactly why I went and looked with my own eyes. The internet can be deceiving at times...LOL.

I have a XS and I have had the XS Max, I checked out the XR on Saturday and the screen is basically the same one that’s on the iPhone 8 Plus. It does not have 3D Touch and the camera lacks a few features that the higher end XS models have.

But, I think there is a lot of folks out there who won’t miss those features and where on the fence financially and this device will fill the bill.

The build quality is still Apple quality and I do like the color availability which I think will be a hit with the younger crowd.

Yes it’s not a X, XS or XS Max, but it’s a couple of hundred cheaper and I think will sell quite well, just my two cents worth.

Your name is Latin for second. Primus is latin for first. I was making a VERY bad joke! lol

My screen name is from a novel called "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell". Mr. Segundus is one of the main characters of the book. I had no idea it meant "second". :p

It’s really not that simple. It’s a battle of hardware that’s isn’t necessary and paying for it. Is the XS going to play games better? So far from comparisons it isn’t. Is the screen better? On paper yes but in real life comparison tests are split at best. LTE speeds right now are similar but in the future better in the XS but by then we would have bought the newer model. The only real benefit is the camera which right now hasn’t shown that much difference and the materials. I agree that stainless looks way better.

458ppi vs 326ppi
4gb RAM vs 3gb RAM
Gigabit LTE vs no gigabit LTE
2 cameras vs one camera
Stainless Steel vs Aluminum

You can love the XR as much as you want but letting that love blind you to facts is just sad. The Xs Max is the most high end, powerful iPhone ever produced. The XR is not. You don’t have to believe it or admit it or “feel” like it is. It just is.

It might be to you! But a lot of the "extra" that goes into the XS Max don't matter to many users. Especially, not the average user in the wild. It doesn't matter to me much at all. I'll get the XS Max for the screen size. But if the XR came in 6.5", I'd get that to save money. And I'd be very happy with it.

My post had ZERO to do with what matters to anyone. The FACTS that I pointed it are just that, FACTS. Whether they matter to you or anyone else is 1000% irrelevant. They are what they are. People rely on their feelings these days to determine their own reality completely ignoring actual reality.

They mostly look at their pocketbook. You're trying to make it like the XR is crap and the differences do matter and no one should choose it. And that's simply not so. It's a great iPhone.
