Sweet, I have a question...what's the point of VLC is iTunes won't accept the format of the video to begin with? And if iTunes does accept it then you could use the native app for viewing the movie

You don't put it into the iTunes library. When it was in the App store, you'd use file sharing to get the video into VLC app. Like this

YouTube - How to use File Sharing On iTunes

Now that its in Cydia, I don't know if it still works the same way. Instead I've just been using Handbrake to convert videos into compatible files so I can just use the native iPod app.

So I went ahead and took a look, and you can't use iTunes file sharing anymore. The Cydia version either requires you to copy the video files into /var/mobile/Media using SSH. Or if you don't like SSH you can use some sort of file browser specifically for the iPhone, like iPhone Explorer.

Another question...I can get VLC from Cydia, is there a way to get it on an not jail broken iPad? Waiting for the untethered version.

cool thanks. Looks like I'll be waiting for the untetherd JB then getting this. In the mean time I'll just use handbrake.

Actually vlc did.

I'm using an app called movie player. Was 3 bucks. Plays any file just like vlc did. Put movies onto the iPad through iTunes (on the apps tab...and yes it supports Xvid etc). Universal app so same purchase works on iPhone too.
