I'm in CT and my brother and some friends on FB reported feeling it. I was out riding my mountain bike on the trails so I was already doing a lot of shaking and didn't feel it.

Amtrak is stopping trains to inspect track... DC, Philly, NY-NY Airports shut down... I've seen a report of a new tilt to the Washington Monument... I'd hate to be a commuter in Northeast US tonight.

I find the pending hurricane more dangerous than the earthquake. It is continuing to grow and could reach category 4. It's already at 100 mph.

At least with the hurricane, you know it's coming with some certainty in plenty of time to protect your life & safety. Earthquakes just happen. Tornados happen with minutes warning.

My daughter, in New Jersey, called to let me know she'd felt it. My mother, in New York, felt it.

Blissful ignorance here in Alabama though.

I live in Northern VA and was driving to a doctors appointment so I didn't feel it. My 15 year old son was home by himself and called me panicked telling me that our house shook a good amount and that he was sure it was an earthquake! When I got to the doctors office the first thing they asked me was if I felt the earthquake.

I felt it, but had no idea what was going on...i was playing Xbox with my brother and felt the floor vibrate a little but thought it was a big truck or something going by, because there's always construction or something going on downtown, and then a few minutes later my wife called and said "Did you feel the earthquake!?" Bizarre...i honestly had no idea that's what it was, and wouldn't have given it a second thought if someone hadn't told me! lol...

President Obama has just confirmed that the DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line, apparently known as 'Bush's Fault.'

BREAKING NEWS!!! "VIRGINIA QUAKE~~ The USGS has determined that the epicenter of the Va earthquake was in a graveyard just outside of DC. The cause appears to be all of our Founding Fathers rolling over in their graves."

Although not as great as this one:

President Obama has just confirmed that the DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line, apparently known as 'Bush's Fault.'
