Videos dark, but pictures are OK?

So I've been trying to use my iPhone X to record a couple of things for a bit now and I keep coming across the same issue. If I'm taking a picture at night in some fairly low-lit areas, I can tap the screen and it'll brighten up and the image will be much better.

If I'm doing a video, regardless on if it's 4K, 1080, etc, it does nothing. I can tap the screen until my finger bleeds and it just doesn't do anything. The videos come out dark and objects are barely noticeable.

Am I missing something here?

Not familiar with the X but I have come across the issue with my SE so I record video with a 3 Party app that lets me use the flashlight feature and bingo video in the dark

It’s something with the exposure. I just checked on mine. You can play with the exposure more with pictures and with video you can’t lock and adjust the exposure only turn on the flash. You can adjust the exposure but it will reset itself if it’s not locked. It might be a bug.
