Has anyone tried the Verizon Messages app yet? Personally, I think it is a little late to the game and I don't see a real advantage being that a majority of data plans now include unlimited text messages.

I do quite a bit of texting, mainly because I have a 23-year old son in Orlando and two teens her in NC and all three would rather text than call. In regard to BBM, I used it a lot when I worked at City Hall mainly because those messages didn't show up on the City's servers and it was politically feasible to use at that time....

I downloaded it to my android tab just to try it out. So far it's ok.

Yes, it is an iMessage-like feature that only uses your cell number and is cross-platform.

I tried it, but was unable to receive texts to my iPad.

Don't really see much use for this for me. Everyone I talk to has iPhones, with the exception of a few business contacts with BlackBerry.
