Using iCloud for one out of two household macs

Hi,

I would love to get on iCloud, but I am currently sharing an apple ID with my friend. From what I understand, if I was to sign up to iCloud using this apple ID, photo stream (and all other things) would be synced to both computers. I only want to stream things to my mac and not his.

Is there any way of doing this without setting up a new apple id to use on my mac? I done some research and the sub accounts may be a way to do this, but not 100% sure.

Any advice/clarity you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Rhion

If your friend disable iCloud on his or her computer, then it could work in the manner you like. It is much easier and safer to simple create another Apple ID. You DO NOT have to enter credit card information. For instance, my daughter and I used to share an Apple ID specifically for purchases, but we had separate Apple IDs for iCloud , etcetera because i didn't want to receive her email, photos and iMessages, etc and vice-versa. It worked out perfectly and was simple to do.
