Upgrade to 6s Plus or wait

There will always be a new phone so If you really feel you need one then go for it.

I personally change my phone every 2 or so years so I find being on the "S" models much better. That way you are on the second generation of the new device so any issues have been corrected and it's been improved a bit as well.

I love my 6S+ and I think this will be a great device until a 7S model comes out.

I could have just kept my Nexus 6p till the iPhone 7 came out. That's basically 6-7 months away and I missed having an iPhone and iOS to wait that long. Been back on the 6S Plus for a couple weeks now.
