I updated to 10.10.3 on the day it came out. I migrated my iPhoto Library to the new Photos Library for the new Photos app (read: I ran Photos.app and let it do the migration/conversion itself).

I was about to backup my photo library to OneDrive (I don't use Apple's iCloud service for my photos) when I realized that there are now three photo libraries in my Pictures folder:

iPhoto Library. Kind: Migrated Photo Library. Size: 11.23 GB on disk
Photos Library. Kind: Photos Library. Size: 11.24 GB on disk.
Photos Library 2. Kind: Photos Library. Size: 13.08 GB on disk

I have used the new Photos app on 10.10.3 only like once or twice since installing 10.10.3. I've only imported photos from my iPhone. I have not created additional libraries… Heck, I don't even know how to create additional libraries.

Why are there THREE libraries in my Pictures folder: two in the new Photos format and one in the old iPhoto format? Did OS X fail to delete the old iPhoto library? Can I delete the iPhoto Library?

Those two new libraries in Photos Library format… are they duplicates? Can I look inside those two libraries without deleting any photos?

If these two libraries turn out NOT to be duplicates, can I merge both of those into one single Photos Library?

Edit/Update: Going into Photos > Preferences gives me a window that looks like this. Again, I have no idea why a second Photos Library folder was created:

Try this. 1- Download "duplicate photos fixer pro" from the app store. 2- Put your "photos library 2" app into the photo fixer and check for dupes. 3- Delete "photos library 2" app. 4- Delete "iPhoto" app. 5- Problem solved (only one photo library).:p
