Update to 3.1.2 OS?

I just got an Iphone 3G today and I believe the AT&T guy said its running the 3.0 version OS,should I update to the 3.1.2 OS? I've read here some are having issues with it,is the 3.0 version more or less stable? What will 3.1.2 gain me over the OS currently on my Iphone? Thanks

Well if you ever want the ability to unlock, I wouldn't recommend upgrading. As of now I believe 3.1.2 is still unlockable.

A lot of people prefer to leave their phones unlockable even if they have AT&T because it gives them a higher resale value if you ever want to sell it.
