Hi!

My TouchID works wonders to unlock my phone, BUT! I have to bring up my lockscreen by single-pressing the 'Power' button. I cannot unlock it with TouchID when my screen is turned off. I have seen reviews where they could do that. They even tried it compared to the 6.
Is there a setting that I should turn on, somewhere? I have check my TouchID settings and everything looks fine!

Thanks =)

this is because the Touch ID scanner in the 6S is so fast that if you try to wake the screen with it, it unlocks your phone

Not on my phone, apparently.

Press the home button with a finger that isn't stored in Touch ID.
Doing that does not work, since the fingerprint is not stored in TouchID.

Or use the power button

It kind of defeats the purpose, though.

Hmmm I don't know of setting. When my is off, can use my thumb & give the home button a full push. As I let up the phone unlocks.

Just looked in settings. Do you have use Touch ID for iPhone unlock turned on?

Yep! Because it does unlock the phone, but only once I bring up the lockscreen by pressing the 'Power' button.

AFAIK, that's how it works. I just grab my phone, place my thumb on the home button and press... my phone opens immediately. When the screen is off, there is no other way. And it's a single, intuitive motion for me.

They aren't actually unlocking it without turning on the device.

What happens is they press down on the home button with a finger that has its fingerprint saved (I'm guessing the videos you watched did it with the thumb) and at the same time they press the home button (sometimes the home button doesn't make a clicking noise... Mine mostly doesn't) the phone unlocked because TouchID works so fast.

It's basically just using the home button to unlock the phone by pressing with a finger that had already been saved.

When I do that, it brings up my lockscreen they "Try again" shakes. But if I bring up my lockscreen then uses TouchID, it works.
They have to be 2 different gestures.

Sounds like a trip to the Apple store to me. On mine when I press the home button with any finger I've got registered and the screen is off it immediately opens and unlocks. One swift motion. I press and lift (pretty quickly since the Touch ID is so fast) and my phone is unlocked.

I've started to use the lock button to wake the screen or a finger that isn't registered. I love how fast Touch ID is but I'm annoyed when it unlocks before I can read messages and use the quick reply feature

Well, it seems to be working, now.
It looks like my phone does not like my fingerprints =P

The 6s touch id is almost perfect, with the other iphones i had to clean my finger to make it work, and if my finger was wet, then it wouldn't work. So i'm very happy with this new one. You can use the power button, or press the home with another finger or use your nail
