Odd... When I was playing music it would freeze up and stop the music. Sometimes even freeze up google maps.
Maybe it's you're install. I just tried it again. I got a podcast playing in Downcast. Then i opened maps, plotted a point, hit start, the playing podcast volume lowered, and Google maps says "Head northwest on main street..." Then the podcast volume goes back up. The podcast played in the background the entire time. I even was able to switch to the music app and play a song, then go back to my podcast. Google maps for me is handling playing music the same as the apple maps app. I'm not expert, and i haven't used google maps a ton but I've never noticed a freeze. So makes me wonder if reinstalling it would make it work. by the ways anyone know if there's a way to reinstall just the apple map program and not the whole OS? I'd hope maybe reinstalling it would solve the battery drain issue.
Oh one more thing. I just noticed that i also kept maps showing most of the time and had my music playing as a back ground app. I never tried it the other way around. Don't know if maybe that makes a difference or not. But i was always able to leave google maps while it was navigating to change my music track or rewind or whatever and it did not affect the navigation. But i don't know if doing it in reverse would make maps timeout in the background.
