If apple comes out with a smaller laptop, i may bite. Their iphone beats the competition right now especially combined with a 3g data card for the laptop. Not much need for a treo or similar unless you have special needs.

I went from the Treo line to the 8125 to the 8525 to the iPhone. Like all converged devices, there are a few compromises, but I seriously wouldn't consider going back to anything I've had or anything that's currently available (or on the immediate horizon). If your "tracker" resource has the ability to email you an appt file (like some webinar sites), they will synch with Outlook which will go on your phone. There is a todolist webapp that's pretty cool, and if Splash is working on some other web apps - the gap is closing that much more...

I highly recommend the iPhone.

Vinman,

I am looking going from Treo line to iPhone now to AT&T Tilt.

I am a IT professional and really need to have my 200+ passwords with me at all times. Now, I carry my old Treo 700p as just a Palm with SplashID and carry my iPhone - but I hate carrying two devices.

What did you hate about the 8125/Tilt? What did you like about it?

Thanks,
Dave

I'm entering this text on an iPhone. Never thought I'd buy one this soon (& don't recommend going deeper into credit card debt to do it like I did) but I think I'll keep it after all is said & done 'cuz so far it lives up to all of the hype. Especially the relative cheapness of the data plan. The only thing I don't like about it is how fragile it is. But I was never planning to take my Treo swimming or rock climbing, & the thing works great as a phone & mp3 player. Plus the display is fan-frikkin-tastic. I think I may be hooked, & not worried at all that I'm just throwing money at something that's gonna be obsolete in two years. Still got 2 weeks to decide, though. I'll let you know how it goes. ;)

I'm also typing this on an iPhone (and faster than I ever could on my old Treo 680 or any hard keyboard). Local apps won't even begin to be developed until after Feb. I'm happy to be off Treo - the phone app crashed/froze on me daily while in use. (And I'd already shifted all my media to an iPod - podcast, TV, and movie heaven AND a functional phone!)

BTW- I use 1password to manage keychain passwords on my Mac and use their export to iPhone function to store them on my iPhone (via bookmarklet).
