Touch ID really inconsistent

Ok, typing this on my new 5s. Turns out it really was a hardware defect... I'm happy though because the replacement phones are in stock and all completely factory new. Cheers

i dont like using my phone with greasy fingers (thats the ocd in me) and if i do i use a lens wipe to clean my phone. the ocd in me makes me clean the phone with a lens wipe at least once a day. i feel a microfiber wipe doesn't do the justice a lens wipe/electronics wipe does. i figure if you do this daily you wont run into touch id problems

I cleaned house today and my fingers & hands were a bit dry & rough when finished. My fingerprint sensor no longer worked 90% of the time on any of the 4 fingers I had prints set up for. Lotion made no difference. Ended up deleting and re-setting and now it works fine.
