Touch ID not working as it used to ?

When I first got my iPad it worked about 98% of the time. Now it only works about 40% of them . What gives ?

I don't know. Try Re-scanning your fingerprints.

You can try redoing the fingerprints like D said. If you are still having issues I would try the restore as new. It resolved Touch ID issues I had when I set up my 6 Plus from a 5S back up.

My fingerprints or conductivity must change after housecleaning and yard work. After washing hands Touch ID does not work. I had set two snapshots of left thumb and two of right. Maybe I'll just keep adding two more prints of each new condition until I have library of fingerprints in memory!

For the best results, always use clean, dry fingers. Moistures, oils, lotions, etc can interfere with the capacitive touch process and the ability of the sensor to accurately read your finger print. I have noticed a big difference between damp/moist fingers and totally dry hands.

As HankAZ mentioned, every time I try to use my iPhone after a shower, it refuses my scan. I have to wait a little bit either because my finger is a bit wet, or because it's all wrinkly. Haha.
