So I was thinking about doing another top 5 Jailbreak apps article for the front page here at TiPb and want to get your feedback of what apps I should spotlight... so be pals and help me out by listing what you think would be a good top 5.

Thanks!

Overboard! I really think I could get by without any other j/b app except that one. I can have 11 pages of apps and by keeping it on my dock, I can always go directly to whichever page has the app I'm looking for. It is my number one!

But that's only becase the "Element" cydget hasn't been released yet. When it is, replace "LockInfo" with that one...

Thanks for the replies so far. Something to keep in mind a lot of what you happen to say may have already been spotlighted in a Top 5. So if you can think of some of the newest apps available. Thanks!

I dont agree with one thing on this list

Iblacklist.. it costs money doesnt it? I jailbroke to "BEAT THE SYSTEM MAN" and not have to pay for wonderfully creative applications...the fact that I have to pay for one.. even if it is a great help to the creator.. is just ridiculous.

I jailbroke for Background (and ultimately ProSwitcher) but I also use qTweeter a lot and love the extra sounds and themes (Gradiance 3) so Winterboard has to be on the list as well.

- Backgrounder
- ProSwitcher
- qTweeter
- Winterboard
- ToneFX
- IntelliScreen

What is wrong with compensating developers for their time and energy. Some of these "paid" apps are very worthwhile and the $1, $2, etc. it cost is easily worth the extra time. I am all for support developers for their efforts. I am sure you have wasted $$$ on one or more "twitter" apps :)

BiteSMS -- a MUST HAVE for heavy texters (30-day trial, $6)
3G Unrestrictor -- flawlessly lets you use apps on 3G that are only supposed to be used on wifi ($3)
qTweeter -- quick and easy post to Twitter and Facebook. Includes music tweet, Safari tweet, upload image or video. My only complaint, no location tweet ($4ish?)
iFile -- File manager and browser (I'm still using the trial...)

And of course the standards -- Winterboard, SBSettings, OpenSSH, Notifier

- Backgrounder
- Kirikae or ProSwitcher
- - Proswitcher is prettier, Kirikae is faster
- SBSettings + Rotation Inhibitor + Autolock
- Flashlight
- - Automatically adjusts the brightness of your iphone screen to maximum
- MxTube
- - Youtube downloader
- GVMobile
- openssh/tcpdump
- Orbit ($2)
- - I hear Overboard ($2) is better. Is it really worth spending another $2?

And to a lesser extent...
- gameboy4iphone
- - Because my parents would never let me have one when I was little ;)
- Quake
- - Because it boggles my mind that my phone can play a game that my desktop was incapable of 15 years ago.

For those of you too lazy to look it up, The Top 5 Jailbroken Apps from each piece:

Part 1:
Winterboard
BossPrefs
Intelliscreen
Backgrounder
Categories

Part 2:
PDAnet
Cycorder
StatusNotifier
SBSettings
Qik

Part 3:
xGPS
Snapture
iBluetooth
QuickReply
QuickSMS

Part 4 (post 3.0)
GV Mobile
Backgrounder
qTweeter
Winterboard
SBSettings 3.02

So I'm guessing Jeremy wants apps other than those.

I would put in:
MyWi (once I finally get it set up and working)
Notifier (since status notifier doesn't work with OS 3.0)
ProSwitcher
Flashlight (it's amazing how much better it actually is)
