Time Machine not working Help

My Time Machine backups were working fine until a few days ago when it just stopped working it keeps telling me Cant backup and giving me a message ill attach a screenshot below. Anyone know a fix. I tried to repair the disk but wont work

I've seen this before and unfortunately in my experience a format is the only way to get things back on track. The worst part iin my case was I formatted and ended up with the same message again. I ended up getting a new external from a different manufacturer.

I deleted the whole drive and in the process of re backing up so fingers crossed if not I may have to get a new one
