After more than 15 years covering everything Apple, it’s with a heavy heart we announce that we will no longer be publishing new content on iMore and the iMore forums will be closing as of November 1st, 2024.
LOL!!! Shame on Meijer!I heard in a podcast that while in development, Apple did refer to it as the iWatch. Somehow it later became the Apple Watch. I have no idea why!
Apple has stopped using the i monicker for a long while now. Apple Watch was the first product to not bear the i in the name.
I know!!! I just didn't know that back in the day, before the first Watch was released for purchase, that it was referred to as the iWatch. When Apple announced the first Watch, it had become Apple Watch. Someone asked Tim Cook about it, and he replied with something like "Don't you think Apple Watch sounds better"?![]()
Wow MeijerEvery time I hear it or see it, I cringe

Yeah, especially when you hear it from an alleged watch owner....![]()

Their most successful product still has the "i" in it so it's not much of a surprise that people just assume it will have it.
May be, but I am having severe violently anxiety attacks when someone says iWatch.
