• After more than 15 years covering everything Apple, it’s with a heavy heart we announce that we will no longer be publishing new content on iMore and the iMore forums will be closing as of November 1st, 2024.

This page was reloaded because it was using significant memory.

I've noticed this in Safari (11.0 (13604.1.38.1.6) and the prior version the past few weeks for the tab open on iMore. Have not see the message for Android Central.

Anyone seeing the same message?

Thanks all. Realize now that I should have been more specific. Looks like this behavior may be a feature. Just noticed it tonight on the page below. This is with Safari running on Mac OS 10.13.

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208086

How much RAM do you have on your Mac and how many tabs or windows or apps are you simultaneously running. The reason I ask is because I use a MacBook Air (8 GBs RAM) for work, and I have 10 or more tabs open via two different web browsers, Slack and Outlook running simultaneously all day long and I have yet to encounter what you’ve described.

This MacBook Air also has 8GB RAM. I've had approximately five tabs open in Safari. Safari is primarily the most active app, with a few others minimized (Photos, Skype, Notes, Messages). Apps and system are responsive overall for a four plus year old system (Mid 2013 MacBookAir6,1).

The "This page was reloaded because it was using significant memory" message is displayed in the Safari tab that is reported to have the significant memory usage problem.

Update: The screenshot shows the message that Safari adds to the browser tab. As I noted above, the message appears on other sites, not just iMore, although that's where I first encountered the message.

Yah I get it when I try to play one of the webgames I've played for a long time. Just started getting the message, and reload a few weeks ago. Wondering if it's a glitch in an update?
