My first thought is maybe this is a solution for a perfect fit of AirPods in his ears since they're either a yay or nay for most fitwise.

Since I don't have AirPods, I wasn't sure about this... but if it works for him, great! I did see that in order for this to work he had to use the Right AirPod in his Left ear, and vice versa!

My sister does this. She says it's more convenient when she's laying down in bed. They fit better and don't bother her while laying down.

That’s interesting! I’m in the “they don’t stay in” category too but it’s not that serious for me to have some LOL..I’ll stick to Soundsport Frees & Powerbeats.

I tried it, they fell, my dog grabbed one and I had to chase her all over the house to get it back. However, after being saturated with puppy drool for 20 minutes, I dried it with a paper towel and it works fine.
So let it be known that the Air Pods are puppy drool proof.
