There will be no iPadOS 16.0

So, today, Apple confirmed that they will not releasing iPadOS 16.0.

Instead, they will work on iPadOS 16.1 which should be the first version of iPadOS 16.

I remember that.

I remember something similar with iOS 8 or 9, something like 8.0.0 on the iPhone 6 and then 1-2 days later 8.0.1 on all devices.

So… this happened today on my iPad… another iPadOS 16.0 beta.

A quick update on the update we received yesterday. Once installed, it reports itself as 16.1, which makes more sense

Just saw this, well that explains a few things. I was on the public beta and realized wait a minute it's on 16.1 now. Hmmm they did this with 13 also cause it caused a headache when I upgraded my phone that year since the beta for iOS went to 13.1 but 13.0 got released. Now I see today iPadOS actually only got a 15.7 and doesn't have a 16.x option at all yet. Guess I might as well put the beta profile back on and see if there's a beta update lol. I pulled the profile a week ago in prep for today.

Apple has not confirmed the exact reason of the delay. All that's known is that they will not ship iPadOS 16.0 and that the first version will be iPadOS 16.1 :/

I’m happy enough for now with the beta, but it was definitely a moment of confusion since I’d removed the beta profile itself in prep for today before I realized it was 16.1 I was on.

I had forgotten about this until I was in the midst of updating all my devices yesterday. When I went to update my iPad and saw iPadOS 15.7 a lightbulb went off in my head and I remembered this thread started by @Ed7789
