The top iPhone apps use 4x more space than they did five years ago

New data from Sensor Tower published during WWDC 2021 reveals that the top 10 apps in the US on iPhone are significantly larger in size than they were five years ago, taking up an average of 2.2 gigabytes of storage compared to 550Mb in 2016.

I’ve often pondered the size of apps in reference to the average storage on all types of devices.

Back in the 90ths I had a whooping 20 Mbyte hard drive and found it hard to fill up at first but then images got better quality and programs got larger in the background and we all know how that story ends

Buy a bigger drive or now in days pay for more internal storage or pay monthly for cloud space

It only makes sense. Apps are more powerful and can do more things which requires more space. Fortunately, I don’t use most of those.
