Don't worry Gurman, Apple will make it in the shape on an Apple. That'll make a speaker revolutionary! (rolls eyes). There needs to be no physical redesign (it's a speaker!). Improve the audio quality even more + make it work especially well with an Apple TV (enhanced stereo LCR with 3 HomePods would be outstanding!).
If I am Apple I let it slip the New HomePod is coming in at the same price as the OG HomePod. Let the tech media hyperventilate, then actually release it at a cheaper $249! for the tech media to say "wow it is cheaper" (see how that works?).
