Text messaging issues??

I'm having some issues with text messageing and was wondering if anyone else is having the same problems.................Sometimes when I get text messages from someone in my contacts it comes up as their email address and not their name. Would anyone know whats going on? I am using iMessage.

Do you have that email address associated with their contact in your address book?

Yea I do but I also have lots of peoples emails associated with their names and it doesn't happen with everyone. I am wondering if this is on their end...........like the iMessage is not working for them? I'll just keep checking around.

Could be they don't have the email associated with the same iMessage account.

I think it is because of your friend's imessage send & receive preference. under 'setting'-'messages'-'send & recieve' -'start new conversations from', there are normally your apple ID and phone number, you friend might chose email as his/her identifier. You can try to start a new conversation with your another friend by setting so, then verify with them, what is shown on their end.
