Syncing notes on iPhone 4 and the Mac

I hope I haven't posted this already somewhere. I know in iOS 4 there is an option to sync notes. I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4 and a Mac laptop. I have the option checked to sync notes but it doesn't sync. I've tried all options I've created the note on the phone nothing appears on my laptop. I've created a new note on my laptop but nothing appears on the phone I would love if I could get this to work because right now I'm using Evernote which is fantastic but if I don't have a connection to the net I have no dice for syncing or bringing up notes. So if you use this feature please tell me how you do it? if there's steps I'm missing someone help me out please

For me the notes appear in mail

Try unchecking notes in iTunes and then recheck it. I've never had notes not sync. The show up in Mail. Are you using Mail or Stickies? The latter won't work.

OK you guys are awesome I didn't know it shows up in mail. I never use mail so now I'll have to start.
