Switch off LTE in non-LTE area?

Merry Christmas, all.

iPhone 5 on AT&T... Live in a medium sized town that probably won't get LTE until 2014.

Does it drain battery unnecessarily to leave LTE enabled under Setting--> Cellular? Should I just leave it off? Or does it not make a difference?

I don't think it makes a difference and if it does its negligible. I don't get LTE around my girlfriends house and when my phone switches to 3G, I don't see a noticeable drop in battery
