Stuck Notification

I have a notification above my text message icon and i have read all of my text messages and it’s still there
I have rebooted my iPad and it still does not disappear.
How do,i get rid of this short of turning off notifications?

Have you tried deleting the messages?

Switch from wifi to LTE and back or vise versa. I get this occasionally an it's usually a connection issue on my end. The phone hasn't let the servers know you've read the messages because of a possible connection issue.

My iPad is WiFi only, i have tried shutting off the WiFi and turning it back on and this does not work.
Any other suggestions?

I'd try signing out of apple ID, reboot and resign in again?
