Stolen iPhone 6

Hi , A Friend of mine reported his phone stolen and got a new one via Insurance.
His Stolen phone was recovered and the insurance company hasn't asked him for the phone back.is it possible to use the stolen phone without getting into trouble ?

You won't be able to use the stolen phone. The insurance company would have had the IMEI number blacklisted. Why not do the honest thing and turn the phone into the insurance company so they can recover some of their losses.
