Found a glitch that makes animations super snappy, like the old one that happened when you messed around with Spotlight while assistive touch was enabled.
This one uses the tiny wallpapers - I found that previewing and setting the wallpaper several times in a row caused the animations to go away so everything feels super fast.
edit: doesn't work on 6s, SE, 7, your mileage may vary.

I'd love it if Apple would just make this an option so I don't have to keep finding bugs that do this.
