Hey all,
Does anyone know what the "Settings" option under the Spotlight Search options is for?
when I do a search in Spotlight for something related to the Settings app I get no results (for example I did a search for "personal hotspot" or "display" etc.).
when I go into the Settings app and do a search there I do get results.
I thought that option might disable the search in the Settings app, but it worked either way.

iPhone 6
iOS 9.0.2

Thanks in advance!

I can replicate your results but only guess as to why. Part of iOS 9 was allowing developers to provide Spotlight with information to do a search within their app. To his end the Spotlight settings allow you to turn this feature on/off on a per app basis. But it seems like every app is listed in those settings regardless of whether the developer has included this "deep search" capability. So my guess is that Apple hasn't added the correct API hooks to the Settings app to do searches and it is just in the Spotlight settings by default like any other app.
But I agree it would be useful.

Thank you for the detailed reply warcraftWidow.
that actually makes a lot of sense.
hope we'll see this option in the future (for the App Store as well).
