Spotlight search not showing content

Hi everyone

Looking for some help for a family member. He is having an issue with spotlight. There is local content on his iPhone (iphone 5 running iOS 8.0.2). Searching for a contact brings up his contact card but nothing else. There are SMS and email from the contact - messages and email are enabled in spotlight settings - but nothing appears. Tried searching for the number - nothing. Tried searching for the email address - nothing. Manually scrolling in both mail and messages he can see the threads

This isn't the only contact this happens to.

Tried all the usual things. Hard reset, disable and enable settings. Nothing. Thought this might be a good place to ask for some advice.

Go to Settings > General > Spotlight Search and make sure everything is checked off that you want searched from spotlight.

Yeah we have done that. Also unchecked - rebooted. Re-checked - rebooted. Still nothing.

I would backup the device and restore it from iTunes. Don't put the backup back on the phone and test to see if it is working correctly. If it does, then repeat the restore, but this time restore from the backup and test again. If the issue comes back I would consider restoring a third time and setting the phone up as new.

Yeah - I have to admit that was also my thought. Just wondered if it was maybe a known bug.

I'll suggest it.
