Recently I have been using Linux a lot, mainly Manjaro. It is an awesome flavor and based off of arch Linux.

My favorite feature of Linux is the fact that you just type the application name and it brings up what is essentially spotlight search. There is no keyboard shortcut. You just type the name of the app and hit enter and it’s open.

My question is does anyone here know if it’s possible to set up spotlight to do this. I am familiar with the terminal, so I assume this would be the way to accomplish this.

I have never seen anything like that before on MacOS and the Finder. In order to start a search, with Spotlight or a third party app like Alfred, you need to hit a defined keystroke combination first (or, of course, click on search bar or another control.)
