If there are multiple spam posts in a single thread, you can mention it when you report and we'll make sure we get it all. If it's all by the same user, no worries, all of their posts will be deleted anyway :)

Thanks so much! It's a big help when spam posts are reported.

The problem is that the spam messages are popping up quite frequently in a lot of threads by many users. I have reported a few and know firsthand that some others have been doing it too but it's still happening at a faster rate than it can be reported. Randomly browse a few threads and you'll see what I mean. It's not funny at all. Somebody suggested the use of reCAPTCHA (I believe that's the name) as a requisite to post. Just an idea...

Agreed, it's getting so ridiculously out of hand that as soon as I see one or two I don't bother reading any more posts?I just leave, knowing that many of the current threads will be infected. In the meantime I read other iOS blogs?I might not enjoy them as much, but at least there's actual content.

It does seem to go in spurts though. We can go a week with only a few spam threads. The last few days every one of the forum mods has banned around 12 people a DAY. You're still only seeing a fraction.

But as they say - this too shall pass. In a few days they'll move on to one of those other sites.

Also, I often use the mobile site, which makes it more frustrating?usually takes a bit longer to navigate to the end of a thread, but when I get there and find spam, there's no way to report it. All I can do is click Back and hope for the best with the next one.

Love ya tipb! Just trying to make things even better!

The spam is something that will always be around with really no way to put an end to it. Just keep reporting it and we will do our best to clean it up as it comes in.

i think i need to clarify something. when "we" comment about spam, and or the amount of, we are not complaining about it not getting removed in a timely manner... more like the influx at times. like Ally said, it comes in waves

personally i think all the mods here do a great job and with a little bit of help by the community we can all work together to keep it to a minimum, 'cause it will never go away completely :)

In the past week I've deleted over 200 spam posts.. its time consuming. Just gotta understand that its a part of every site.. and the ones you read that don't seem to have problems with it probably have a MUCH larger staff than we do. And its not like I get paid to be on here 24/7 deleting spam, so please just be patient and understanding :)

The main reason I brought this up was not because "it happens all the time" but the huge batch of spam the last few days. Sure there may have been one or two spam posts, but not 20 or more. Thats the main reason why I brought this up.

I don't mean to sound like I'm whining either--totally appreciate the work you mods do and just trying to see if there are ways to make your jobs easier by cutting off spam before it gets here. Thanks for the good work!

Maybe you could hire an additional staffer... I can send a resume :)

Spam Issues

If this is the wrong forum for such a question, im sorry.

Currently have a BB, making the move to Veriphone on the 3rd.

My issue is I get a tremendus ammount of spam from my mail host. On my BB there is no way to filter it. I assume that I will have the same issues on the IPhone. My host uses spamassasin, but it doesnt seem to do any good.

I only get spam on 1 of the 4 hosted accounts and the one account is very important, so changing the address is kinda out of the question.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

If better/easier methods were available, don't you think we'd be using them? Just sayin.

As I said I only brought this up due to the amount of spam this site has gotten, not because "oh it happens all the time" I think everyone knows that does happen on the internet.
