So I pretty much obliterated my Apple Watch...

I guess it fell off or got knocked off of my computer table and ended up underneath my rolling chair. I didn't see it. I started rolling up backwards. And yep, right on top of it. Completely shattered.

Yes, there was a tear.

But. My wife had ordered one last month or so and didn't like it so she gave hers to me. So I'm wearing one again. Thankfully.

I've never bought Apple Care ever. I've never broken a piece of expensive equipment before. Hell, I had a G3 Powerbook that lasted me 6 or 7 years before I sold it on eBay. It never occured to me to buy it now.

applecare is insurance. not radioshack extended warranty.
oh well. guess it's nice to be able to throw away $400-$1000 and be able to keep a 2nd one laying around that no one wants as a spare..

You know I've never understood why people are so interested in other people's money. He didn't get Applecare it's not a requirement. I have an iPhone 6s with no Applecare. It's my money and my device. It might not make sense to someone else but it doesn't need to. He rolled over the watch and is wearing a spare why does that offend anyone? It's his money, his hardware, his choice. I think people who waste hundreds of dollars in stripclubs are silly but it all boils down to the fact that it's their money and they can do with it whatever they want.

As I've earlier, I've been using Apple hardware since the Apple // came out and I've never broken anything. Ever. I never even considered getting Apple Care for it.

I tend to agree. It's not like he regrets not getting AppleCare. No need for the judgement. If he didn't want it...he didn't want it.

I agree in part, but offer my take as well. When you post here in the forms that you broke you watch, used the replacement, etc that you invite people in to view your post and comment. This has always cracked me up about forums in general. Some people feel that they should be able to post things and then only invite people to share their views and not include opposing viewpoints.

I don't think the issue is in sharing opposing viewpoints as much as the delivery. Some people can sometimes be disrespectful and flat-out nasty in their replies. Luckily iMore is much better than the majority of other forums. The mods don't tolerate it.
