Is there an SMS app for iPhone that doesn't require the people in your contacts to sign up to use it?

I just got an iPhone 2 weeks ago and I've been using imessage but I've been receiving spam texts. It wouldn't be that big of a deal except their being sent by email and/or a website address and not a phone number so I can't block them.

Here's an example of one.

Go to settings>messages and turn on Filter Unknown Senders. This will create a 2nd tab on main iMessage screen for unknowns and from there you can report the junk to Apple and block the senders.
