Sim card in my latest iPhone 3G

Hi to all!
I want to know that if I don?t insert Sim card in my latest iPhone 3G. Then which features will be disabled and which features will be working without a Sim?

I don't think anything will work without a sim? Unless there's some unlocking/jailbreaking thing that allows you to use it like an iPod Touch?

I think you can activate it and then take the SIM out and use it like an iPod Touch. Haven't tested this out though...
