The Base Grip by Silk Innovation is a slim case with a tight fit. The case itself is pretty malleable and solidifies quite nicely with the phone installed. There is a raised lip to protect the screen when laying the phone face down which is nice to see in a slim case. The back of the case is smooth and fairly slick, however the sides are grainy and textured adding a lot of grip to the sides of the phone. The grip is very nice to have on a larger phone. There are button covers, and they took a few presses to break in however once broken in they provide pleasing tactile feedback. The mute switch cutout is wider than most cases and with the slimness of the case it is rather easy to access the switch. I wish more manufacturers allowed such space for the mute switch. The speaker cutouts are superb and match the phone amazingly while the lightning port cutout is wide enough to allow third party charging cables and dock connectivity. My favorite cutout is the camera cutout, it’s a unique design that will provide zero issues with camera functionality. The Base Grip even comes with a screen protector.

The Good
  • Adds almost no bulk
  • Great grip on the sides
  • Lay on table design

The Bad
  • Not a lot of drop protection
  • Back is pretty slick
  • May not fit all docks

If you’re not big on bulky cases and looking for a cheap case that will add a good deal of grip and come with a screen protector, look no further than the Base Grip by Silk Innovation. For a slim case the features are nearly unbeatable, having a slim profile and lay on table design, it’s really a no brainer for a cheap case.

You can pick them up on Amazon for around $11.
