Shutter sound when taking photo is gone

Since switching to Sprint (big mistake) my new iPhone XR does not have a sound when I take a photo just from phone and from shutter remote. I need to hear the shutter because I take photos from a long pole.

I also no longer have the shutter sound on my iPhone 6plus and not sure what happened or why?

Do you have the silence switch on the left side of the phone turned to silent?

I'm wondering if connecting your shutter remote, which I assume is done using Bluetooth, is causing your iPhone to try to route the audio through your remote so you're not hearing anything. Just a thought. Is it happening when your iPhone is not on silent and is not connected to the remote?
