Like all iPhones (and phones in general), new phones are better than old ones.
That said, if the 8 doesn’t give you anything you want or need and the 6s is working well then save the money.
I upgraded from the 6s to the 8plus. The screen and battery were the things I wanted but if that wasn’t the case I’d have gone X or 8

Welcome to iMore

It would be a good jump in performance but you need to make that decision

The camera or cameras (Plus) can be a good reason to upgrade and remember that a Plus has a bigger battery.

We have new and back to the 6 phones in our family of five all work fine for most things.

This recent article in the Times points out camera as a big reason and lists reasons for going econo and for going for the latest. https://nyti.ms/2F2b50Y

Welcome to iMore!

In the end it's up to you but you will notice a difference speed wise. Plus the camera will be better.

Enjoy the site and post often! :)

Hi new to this group currently got iPhone 6s Plus currently debating whether to upgrade to iPhone 8 had mixed reviews about it

Welcome to the iMore Forums. As for the thread topic, I tend to upgrade my iPhone annually, however, I would straight up be lying if I said I “needed to upgrade” from the previous year’s device or from the iPhone I had two years ago. I’m glad I did, but I didn’t “need” to. With that being said, why are you considering an upgrade?

Is it out of want or out of need? If it’s only out of a desire to get a new device, I would hold onto your iPhone 6S Plus and get the latest iPhone X-like device coming out this fall.

If you can’t wait that long then go ahead and get the iPhone 8 / 8 Plus.

I have both the iPhone X and the iPhone 8. Before the iPhone 8, I had the 7 Plus, 6S Plus and the iPhone 6 Plus. The Plus size devices are a beast, but they have the better camera and better battery life than the non-Plus models.

In my opinion, the 4.7” size iPhone models are the perfect size smartphone so I understand your desire for the iPhone 8. I bought the iPhone X because I was curious about it, but I didn’t need it. I was content with my iPhone 8.

Anyway, if you decide to get the iPhone 8, I think you’ll be pleased with it.

If you're going from a 6s Plus to an 8 it won't be much of an upgrade with the smaller screen. If you're having trouble with the size of the Plus, is the X an option? Similar screen real estate but the smaller size.

Well thanks to everybody who commented I have bit the bullet and got a really good deal on the iPhone 8 and could I just say it's one good upgrade the x would of been nice but bit pricey.
