Should I get and ipad 2 or ipad 4

Am looking to get an ipad for Christmas from Santa. He's not sure which one to get for me. I'm familiar with the ipad 2 but is the ipad 4 that much different?

In another year you will not be able to upgrade your iOS to 8 if you get an iPad 2, so I suggest getting an iPad 4.

Operationally, no. Internal specs and performance-wise, a 4 would be much, much nicer.
