Just a quick heads up. Microsoft Live Labs have released their first iPhone app, Seadragon, an app for viewing high-res on-line photos:

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=299655981&mt=8&at=10l3Vy

I've only tried the default images thus far but it seems to work well. It's quick and smooth and has lovely zoom transitions.

From the app store page:

'Expect more cool stuff from Live Labs in the future'

Sounds good to me. Here's a list of Live Labs projects:

Projects : Microsoft Live Labs

No mention of Live Mesh for iPhone there, which is something I for one would like to see.

I am not shocked MS released an iPhone app. The more MS APIs and such people use the more it ties back into the revenue down the road. Same reason people release free viewers and cross platform stuff.

I dont have a need for SeaDragon (can someone give me one?) right now, but it looked cool.

I think it's a neat demo app. The road and satellite views blow away the native Google maps app. I want some competing map apps that use this.

And yes the app doesn't really do anything, it's just a tech demo. I hope Live Labs puts it to good use.

Good point. I didn't think of that.

I wish it would let you save pictures to your phone, that would make it alot more useful, lots of pics on there that I would love to use for wallpaper.
