Rotation bug

just wanted to thank you and say this works like a charm, though frequently I need to repeat the steps (at most 3 times so far) to get the screen to rotate.

I'll mention that while this fixes the rotation issue, I've found that it breaks again very quickly unless the device is restarted.

Just curious, is anyone else have a iOS 10 bug where screen rotation fails often? Just want to make sure it's not from dropping my phone. :/

Yeah mine gets funky with changing to landscape mode and then sometimes in an app, won't go back to portrait mode, so I have to exit the app and the home screen will switch back.

I've also noticed sometimes when I set my phone down, putting it flat at times will activate a switch to landscape, drives me nuts lol

I am having the same problem especially after the last iOS 10 update. I have an iPad Air 2. It is very annoying. I have to shutdown and restart to get it to work again. Definitely a bug Apple needs to address.

Yeah i have this crazy bug since updated to iOS10 , my device is 6S Plus. You turn on the rotation luck in portrait mode but the device still rotates and locked itself in landscape after all. such a pain in ***.

I found a simpler work around. Simply rotate to the orientation that the device is stuck in then lock the screen. Wait about 5 seconds and rotate the device. Wait another 5 seconds and unlock the device. That usually fixes it.

Add me to the list with this bug on my Ipad Air 2, only fix is to turn it off and back on again. I'm on 10.1.1

iPad Air 2 here, same problem also. Had this problem since updating to iOS 10. Now Running iOS 10.1.1.

iOS 10 update broke also Wifi + Bluetooth on my iPad Air 2. When I enable bluetooth (to connect a speaker for example) Wifi disappears after 30 sec - 1 min of use and won't come back until changing wifi/airplane mode on and off. Very frustrating. So I can't use my Marshall Stanmore bluetooth speaker for listening music on Spotify or watching TV shows anymore. When I enable bluetooth, wifi goes off. Tried updating iOS, resetting internet settings, restarting the device...

I have found a workaround, at least for my iPad Air 2. Just open an app that doesn't rotate (typically one for the iPhone like Fitbit or Tap&Track), the screen will blink as the app comes up. After closing that app, my screen now rotates (until the next time it gets stuck). Make sure the app is closed (not active in background) before opening it or this will not work.

For me the simplest fix is to hold the device (iPad in my case) the way the orientation is stuck and lock the screen. Wait a few seconds and rotate the screen. Wait a few more seconds and unlock the screen. Fixes it every time.

I am having this problem on iPad Air 2 since updating to 10.1.1. It goes back to normal once restarted, lasts a couple of rotations, then gets locked in one position permanently. How is this not fixed yet if it was reported in July?

I'm curious on the terminology here. In my experience, a "hard reset" meant that you were wiping your device. A "soft reset" was simply powering it down and back on again. Just for lack of confusion when providing advice, do most people understand a "hard reset" to be simply turning the phone off and back on again?

I thought a hard reset was holding down the power button and the Home button until the machine restarted.....

...but I just found out that's a Forced Restart: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201559

Yes, I've experienced the screen not rotating on my iPad Air 2 and it's very annoying. It just happens randomly. I just checked to see if the lock on the screen orientation was off and it was, so I powered down my device and rebooted it. That worked! But, I believe it may be due to the latest iOS 10 update causing the issue.

Also, when I click links from email to go to a specific website, instead of doing that on the first attempt, it takes me to app choices to select a search engine. If I try again, it works correctly. Any advice for that one?

Thanks!
