Just discovered this today (it was launched 2/17/17) from that great little software company, Rogue Amoeba--this app makes it easy to control your audio inputs, outputs, and volume from the Menu Bar.

I use their Audio Hijack all the time, especially for recording the audio off video programs, webinars, etc. to listen in my podcast app, Overcast, later on (Overcast allows you to upload audio files in your regular web browser that will then download to the app on your iPhone or iPad etc.).
