Roaming on T-Mobile Prepaid with Iphone

I have a iphone 1st gen jailbroken with pwagne tool. I used the tmobile sim in my other unlocked phones before and when I roamed i would get networks like westlink witch is the local service provider for my area. But on tmobile i have free roaming so it does not matter which tower i am on because it is a partner with tmobile. And I would always have like 4 bars on my other phones. But when i put my tmobile sim in my jailbroken iphone my iphone only has like 2 bars and it will not pickup all the other roaming networks like my other phones did. So how can i fix this? And i do not want to change service providers from tmobile.

That just might be the signal strength in your area...have you checked the t-Mobile online signal strength, just type in your address.
