My wife is going to Europe this fall and wants to take he iphone(4S) along. She is on Telus(Canada) but they don't seem to have any special "plan" to get around the exhorbitant charges.
What other options are there?

Thanks

Fred

Like has already been said, you might have to contact Telus to get the phone internationally unlocked. Then, you should be able to purchase a sim card for the country she is visiting (telestial.com is a good site too), and get a local European number. If your carrier won't unlock your phone for international sim cards, you can always use something like a Gevey sim card to hardware unlock it. (but that is another set of issues)

With the pre-paid global SIM card, you get the benefit of having the same number, which you can carry through your journey in different parts of the world. On top of that, the calls that you receive are free of cost, no matter where it is generated from. Pre-paid SIM cards are generally an excellent way to ensure the user gets mobile phone system which works towards your budget. You will have to pay for prior to to the items on the mobile. pay as you go
