Restore from backup or clean install?

I had my 4S (FIrst Apple phone) replaced once and I restored it from a previous backup, but I experienced some weird glitches. What do you guys recommend on a new device purchase? Other than game saves and text messages, is there any other reason to restore, knowing I have my previous pictures, contacts, and calendars backed up.

You'll need to restore if you want to use that backup...
